The Denver Broncos head into Week 9 with a tough matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Denver didn't make any major moves at quarterback at the trade deadline, leaving Drew Lock to back up Teddy Bridgewater for rest of the year.

The Broncos received some concerning news on Lock, though, before kickoff.

Drew Lock COVID

Lock is inactive for Sunday's game due to COVID-19 protocols. It's disappointing to hear see the backup ruled out so close to kickoff.

Lock is not the only notable Bronco out against the Cowboys due to COVID protocols, as tight end Noah Fant will be sidelined as well.

The backup QB has played in just one game this year, throwing for 65 yards and a TD in Week 4 after Bridgewater was knocked out with a concussion. Hopefully Denver won't need to turn to its QB depth in Week 9, but Brett Rypien would be the next man up with Lock out.

The Broncos are 9.5-point underdogs ahead their early afternoon game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook
