Not only did the Denver Broncos suffer their first team loss of the season in Week 4, but the matchup with the Baltimore Ravens came at a price. Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate Patrick Surtain II left Sunday's contest early with an apparent chest injury.

The news went from bad to worse when Surtain did not return to the game.

Patrick Surtain II Injury Update

It's unclear the severity or exact nature of Surtain's injury, however his failure to return does not bode well. The standout rookie cornerback will undergo further tests on Monday.

Surtain II has played his way into the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation. The lockdown corner already earned a starting nod, starting in every game since Week 1. In that time, Surtain has recorded 1 interception, 2 passes defended and 15 total tackles. His 15 tackles ranks fifth on the Broncos.

Bryce Callahan or Mike Ford would slot into Surtain's role if his injury causes him to miss any time.

For now, Surtain owns the second-best odds (+500) to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award on FanDuel Sportsbook.
