It's no secret that the Milwaukee Brewers' second half to the 2022 MLB season has gone anything but as planned. Things have only gotten worse after dropping three of four games to the lowly Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend, leaving the Brewers needing a full team effort in September to turn things around.

If the Brewers want to go on an unlikely run, they need players like Christian Yelich and Freddy Peralta to get back to full health. While both players' recoveries are trending in the right direction, Milwaukee just received mixed updates regarding the duo.

Christian Yelich Injury Update

According to insider Adam McCalvy, Brewers manager Craig Counsell told reporters Sunday that there's a good chance that Yelich will face the Colorado Rockies on Monday. The veteran outfielder has been sidelined since Thursday with neck discomfort.

Even though he's no longer in his MVP form, Yelich is still a solid contributor that the Brewers need. The former two-time MLB All-Star has 11 home runs, 45 RBIs and 16 stolen bases while slashing .259/.360/.387 in 125 games this season.

Freddy Peralta Injury Update

Unfortunately, Peralta's injury update wasn't as positive. Counsell said that the Brewers want to give the right-handed pitcher more time to recover following his last start on Sept. 1. Nevertheless, he is expected to start later this week.

Peralta already must a chunk of the 2022 campaign after a 60-day injured list stint thanks to a shoulder injury. While he struggled at the start of the year, he's been much better since his return to injury, going 1-1 with a 2.43 ERA while striking out 23 batters and allowing 10 walks over 29.2 innings.

Assuming that Peralta can continue that success in his next return to the mound, the Brewers will be a better team because of it.

Brewers World Series Odds

Only time will tell if Yelich and Peralta's impending returns can have a positive impact on Milwaukee's 2022 World Series odds. For now, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Brewers listed at +7500 (No. 13) to win the first title in franchise history this fall.
