The Milwaukee Brewers are right in the middle of a National League Central race with the St. Louis Cardinals, which makes any injury a tough blow at this point. Outfielder Hunter Renfroe was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left calf strain and has no concrete timeline set up for a return.
Hunter Renfroe Injury Update
Renfroe has sat out the last three games for the Brewers and the team has provided little clarity on how severe the issue is. Calf strains can be tricky to predict, though. It's an injury that usually sidelines players for a few weeks, but Mike Trout missed months with a calf strain just last summer.
Replacing Renfroe's productivity is not going to be easy for Milwaukee. The 30-year-old has posted a slash line of .247/.300/.490 across 54 games and ranks second on the team in home runs (13). Renfroe has also logged 27 runs scored and 27 RBI in his first season spent with the organization.
Utility player Pablo Reyes was called up in a corresponding move as Tyrone Taylor and Jonathan Davis are expected to see more playing time in the outfield. An extended absence from Renfroe could cause the Brewers to search for a better option at the upcoming MLB Trade Deadline in early August.
All Milwaukee fans can do is hope for good news when it comes to how much action Renfroe will end up missing. For now, the Brewers have odds set at -145 to capture a division title and odds set at +1800 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
