The Milwaukee Brewers continue to search for ways to improve their roster in 2023. On Tuesday, Milwaukee brought back a former reliever to bolster its bullpen depth.
The Brewers aren't done adding, though, as they traded for another arm on Wednesday.
This time, the team acquired starter Bryse Wilson in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Milwaukee sent cash considerations to their NL Central rivals in exchange for the right-hander.
Wilson was a highly touted prospect coming out of high school, as the Atlanta Braves selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 draft. He made his MLB debut in 2018, and went on to log 23 overall appearances (including 15 starts) for Atlanta from 2018-2021 until he was dealt to the Pirates.
The righty saw his most significant run yet in 2022, recording 25 games played and 20 starts for Pittsburgh. He finished with a 3-9 record, 5.52 ERA and 79 strikeouts across 115.2 innings.
Already boasting MLB experience and having just turned 25 years old, Wilson is an ideal young player to take a flyer on. The Brewers' penchant for developing pitchers into their best selves could help take Wilson's game to new heights in 2023.
