Braves Open as Underdogs Against Mets on Opening Day

The 2020 MLB season kicks off on Thursday night, but most teams won't get their first taste of regular season action until Friday.
One of the most intriguing matchups on Friday is an NL East clash between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves.
On FanDuel Sportsbook, the Braves have opened as +124 underdogs, while the Mets are -142 favorites for the matchup.
Should the Mets have higher odds to win the World Series? https://t.co/g9DANJS5Uf

These odds certainly come as a bit of a surprise after the Braves won the NL East while the Mets finished 11 games back in 2019. The Braves are still +200 favorites to win the division in 2020 (while the Mets are third at +290), so the odds in this game seem to have more to do with this game's specific matchup than the teams overall.
That makes sense, considering the Mets are set to start reigning NL Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, who is once again favored to win the award in 2020.

Braves fans might be feeling disrespected by the odds for this game, but that's the kind of impact that deGrom can have on any given game.
Even though they're rivals, fans of both teams can agree that this Opening Day matchup is long overdue.
