Braves Get Bad News With Grant Dayton Injury Update

The 2021 MLB season is far from being Grant Dayton's best campaign. The Atlanta Braves left-handed reliever has a 6.23 ERA and has allowed 15 hits through just 13.0 innings pitched. While any player can turn a bad season around, it's going to be a bit more difficult for Dayton, who's now expected to miss some time.
The Braves announced on Saturday that Dayton was placed on the 10-day Injured List with shoulder inflammation. No matter what you think of his performance this season, this isn't the news that the Atlanta fanbase wanted to hear.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Jacob Webb to Atlanta and placed LHP Grant Dayton on the 10-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.

Grant Dayton Injury Update
Hopefully, some time on the IL gives Dayton a chance to heal and work towards pitching like his old self. After all, it was just last season when he finished with a 2.30 ERA and 10.5 strikeouts per nine innings pitched through 27 1/3 innings pitched. If he can get back to being close to resembling that player, Dayton would certainly help the Braves on a potential run to close out the season.
A 26-29 record currently has Atlanta 3.5 games behind the New York Mets for the top spot in the NL East. Fortunately for them, the Braves will play seven games against the Mets between Monday, June 21 and Thursday, July 1, which should give them ample opportunities to make up some ground in the divisional race.
The Braves currently have the 2nd-best odds to win the NL East, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which trails just the Mets at -250. Atlanta is also +2000 to win the World Series, putting the Braves in a tie for eighth across the whole MLB with the Oakland Athletics.
