Atlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Huascar Ynoa was on track to have his best season yet in 2021 before breaking his hand after he punched a dugout bench on May 16. However, nearly two months have passed and it's looking like the 23-year-old righty's return could be in the near future.

The Athletic's David O'Brien reported on Saturday that Ynoa will throw off of the mound within the next few days. Even though an exact return date isn't in the cards yet, this is certainly great news for the Braves.

The Braves also aren't sure where Ynoa will slide back in the lineup until they see how he throws off the mound first. If he shows that same confidence that he had at the start of the season, it'd be a no-brainer for Atlanta to throw him back into the starting rotation.

After an unremarkable first two seasons, Ynoa started the season with a 4-2 record and 3.02 ERA over nine games played (eight starts). During that span, he's averaged 10.1 strikeouts per 9 innings pitched and owns a career-best 1.052 WHIP. The crazy thing is that it wasn't just Ynoa's pitching that grabbed people's attention at the start of the year.

A as a hitter, he recorded 2 home runs and 6 RBI in 17 at-bats while slashing .353/.353/.765.

As it stands, the Braves have an outside shot at winning the 2021 World Series. Their +4600 odds to go on a championship run rank 13th in the league, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Getting a healthy Ynoa back in the rotation would go a long way toward improving those odds.
