Braves Designate Veteran Pitcher for Assignment
The Atlanta Braves made a move to shake things up in the bullpen on Monday by calling up left-hander Dylan Lee from Triple-A. In order to make room on the active roster, veteran pitcher Tyler Thornburg was designated for assignment after making nine appearances for the team in 2022.

Thornburg pitched relatively well in relief action. While he had posted a 3.86 ERA across 9.1 innings pitched, his 1.82 WHIP showed that he was giving up a lot of hard contact. Overall, he gave up zero runs in seven of his nine appearances and will now be looking for a new team to call home.
It may not be too long before Thornburg inks another deal considering he owns a career ERA of 3.49 in a total of nine MLB seasons. His best efforts came in 2016, when he logged an 8-5 record and tallied 90 strikeouts in 67.0 innings for a Milwaukee Brewers team that failed to make the playoffs.
Meanwhile, it was only a matter of time before Lee was given the green light to join the major leagues again. His stint with the Braves in April was short-lived, but he has been thriving at Triple-A. The 27-year-old has posted a 2.30 ERA and 1.02 WHIP across 15.2 innings pitched (23 strikeouts, 2 walks).
Lee joins a bullpen that currently owns the eighth-best ERA in the major leagues (3.29) and has been a bright spot on an Atlanta squad still looking to find their groove. The Braves currently have odds set at +1700 to go back-to-back as World Series champions, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
