We're nearly a month into the MLB offseason, and players aren't the only ones on the move.
It was announced on Tuesday that former Atlanta Braves hitting coach Jose Castro is joining the Chicago White Sox as part of their coaching staff under new manager Pedro Grifol.
Chicago White Sox News
Castro is getting a promotion in Chicago, where he'll be the hitting coach after serving as Atlanta's assistant hitting coach for eight years. The Braves enjoyed tremendous success during that time, making five straight playoff appearances from 2018-2022 and winning the World Series in 2021.
Castro was a key part of Atlanta's coaching staff during that run, aiding the development of numerous young hitters such as Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley and Dansby Swanson.
He will try to bring that magic with him to Chicago, where the team is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 81-81 campaign. The White Sox already have several talented hitters in place, although they just lost Jose Abreu to free agency.m
Even without Abreu, Chicago still has the 11th-best World Series odds (+2500) for 2023 on FanDuel Sportsbook's MLB odds.
