San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is a breakout candidate heading into his second season. He had an impressive rookie year despite quarterback issues, and his numbers could explode as the 49ers' top wideout in 2021.

However, a hamstring injury has recently popped up for the wideout. And the latest update is concerning with Week 1 approaching.

Brandon Aiyuk Injury Update

This hamstring issue appeared almost a week ago and Aiyuk hasn't hit the practice field since. San Francisco likely wants to be cautious with such a troublesome area, and they still have over a week before their season-opener, but this is a story to monitor.

Aiyuk made an immediate impact as a rookie last season, turning 96 targets into 60 receptions for 748 yards and 5 TDs. He impressively did that with a revolving door at QB. The wideout should see much improved play under center this year after the 49ers' competition this summer.

Fellow 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel has struggled with injuries of his own in training camp. Hopefully both wideouts can get to 100% before they take on the Detroit Lions.

San Fran is a 7.5-point road favorite against Detroit in Week 1, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
