3 Bold Predictions for the Vikings Offseason

The Minnesota Vikings have found themselves bordering the line between pretender and contender for a few seasons now. They missed out on the playoffs for the second consecutive year in 2021 and head into the offseason with a number of different needs to address before Week 1 comes around.
New general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has an opportunity to use the assets in front of him to build a roster capable of competing in the NFC North division. With that in mind, here are three bold predictions for the Vikings offseason.
Vikings Bold Predictions
1. Vikings Trade Kirk Cousins to Denver
Quarterback Kirk Cousins has a $45 million cap hit next season and it's not unrealistic to think the Vikings will at least try gauging his trade value. One team that sticks out as a possible landing spot is the Denver Broncos. Denver has one of the best defenses in the league and may only be a viable QB away from being a legitimate Super Bowl threat. It's worth noting that Cousins has won just one playoff game with Minnesota over the course of four seasons. Grabbing what they can in return for him and giving new head coach Kevin O'Connell a fresh start at QB could end up being the best move the Vikings can make.
2. Vikings Trade for Deshaun Watson
Speaking of a fresh start at quarterback, recent reports suggest the Vikings are in the running to trade for three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson. The pairing here makes a lot of sense. Watson has expressed a want to join a franchise capable of winning it all and Minnesota has two amazing offensive weapons in Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook. Of course, the Houston Texans' asking price is going to be pretty high. It may be worth it to acquire a player that threw for a league-high 4,823 yards during his last full season of play, though. The Green Bay Packers have run the North for years now and it's about time the Vikings make a big move to defeat their rivals.
3. Vikings Sign an All-Pro Cornerback in Free Agency
The Vikings simply couldn't stop a single opponent from marching up and down the field through the air in 2021. Minnesota allowed the fifth-most passing yards per game (252.9) and will now likely lose veteran cornerback Patrick Peterson to free agency. Adofo-Mensah is going to have to shed some cap space to get it done, but signing Chris Harris in free agency would be a great move. The four-time Pro Bowler has 11 years of NFL experience and has racked up 24 pass breakups to go along with 6 interceptions over the last four years. Harris brings a sense of leadership that would fit in well alongside Harrison Smith and Eric Kendricks, too.
