The Green Bay Packers have been searching for a star tight end to pair with Aaron Rodgers since he became the starter in 2008. That's not to say they haven't tried. They've brought in a litany of talent at the position, with big-name players like Martellus Bennett, Jared Cook and Jimmy Graham all making starts for the team during that span.

The position has become a bit of a revolving door, though. None of those three lasted more than two seasons with the team, for example. But that search could be coming to an end soon.

Chris Roling, of Bleacher Report, listed five blockbuster trades that he could see happening before the 2021 season kicks off, including a potential deal that would send David Njoku to the Packers.

Roling suggests that if the Packers sent out a 2021 mid-round pick, it could be enough to get the deal done – and the trade would make a lot of sense for both sides.

For one, Njoku has publicly requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. The team made Austin Hooper the highest-paid tight end in NFL history this offseason, and added John Mackey Award winner Harrison Bryant in the 2020 NFL Draft. Even with new head coach Kevin Stefanski set to run a lot of 12 personnel, Njoku's role in Cleveland isn't as clear as it used to be.

That's not to say he's not talented, though. The 24-year-old racked up 639 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns as a second-year player in 2018, but he missed most of last season due to a wrist injury. Meanwhile, Green Bay doesn't have a lot depth at the position, with unproven second-year TE Jace Sternberger currently penciled in as the team's starter.

Spending a mid-round pick on an untapped talent like Njoku would be a great low-risk, high-reward gamble that could help take this offense over the top.
