3 Most Likely Blake Griffin Free Agent Destinations

After agreeing to a contract buyout on Friday with the Detroit Pistons, star forward Blake Griffin is officially a free agent. While he's not the superstar he once was, Griffin still has something left in the tank and can certainly carve out a productive role on plenty of teams in the league.
Given that he will most likely sign for the veteran's minimum, this opens up the chance for pretty much every team in the league to sign Griffin if there's mutual interest. With that being said, let's take a look at three teams that could land the 31-year-old forward.
3. Miami Heat
The Heat have seemingly been linked to Griffin for years. They were even reportedly interested before he was ultimately dealt to Detroit, but a deal was never made. Griffin could possibly even find a starting role in Miami if he's able to overtake Kelly Olynyk in the rotation. The Heat could use the front court depth and the extra scoring on a team that ranks No. 26 in points per game.
2. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have a solid starting five, but they could definitely use some depth, and a player of Blake's talent might not be available at this price any other time this season. While Draymond Green is great at the 4 or 5, James Wiseman is still a rookie and has his ups and downs. Outside of that, Kevon Looney is their only other big man that makes an actual contribution consistently. Griffin could help anchor that second unit and provide some consistent scoring outside of Stephen Curry, something Golden State has struggled with at times this season. He could also be a huge help in the development of Wiseman, who is also an athletic big man looking to expand his offensive versatility just as Griffin has throughout his career.
1. Los Angeles Lakers
It's no secret how ugly the breakup between Griffin and the Clippers was after the forward was dealt to Detroit not long after being sold on re-signing with the Clippers. He would probably love a return to life in LA, but this time for the team across the hall. The Lakers are a championship team already, and adding Griffin could give them that extra depth in the front court they are reportedly seeking. With Anthony Davis still out with an Achilles injury, Griffin could provide immediate support and become an additional piece either on the second unit or as a starter if things go well. Plus, he would surely love the chance to compete for a title in LA again.
