The Buffalo Bills proved themselves to be one of the league's best defenses in 2019. This isn't necessarily new, though, as Buffalo has been a top-three scoring defense in two of Sean McDermott's three seasons at the helm.

However, this unit still doesn't seem to be getting the respect it deserves. In fact, Bleacher Report ranked the top-seven defenses ahead of the 2020 season – and the Bills didn't even make the list.

Putting the Bills outside of the top seven is absurd. The Bills were the league's second-best scoring defense last season, beating out every single team that made this list. They're even ranked behind the Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints, despite the fact that neither unit finished as a top-12 scoring defense.

The Bills are also at their best where it matters most – pass defense. Last season, Buffalo held opposing QBs to a passer rating of 78.8, surrendered an adjusted yards per attempt (AY/A) mark of 5.6 and were given a 90.1 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus. All three ranked top four in the NFL.

Buffalo absolutely deserves to be viewed as a top-seven defense. But if 2020 looks anything like 2019 did, it's only a matter of time until this unit gets the respect it deserves.
