Big East Tournament Prediction

The Big East Conference Tournament really looks like a four-team race in 2022. The drop-off after Villanova, UConn, Providence and Marquette is pretty steep.

Sure, Creighton has an 11-6 conference record, but there's a reason they're only +1600 to win the tournament. It's hard to get too excited about a team that averages just 69.5 points per game — trailing even Georgetown.

Even in that top tier, however, it's Villanova that really stands out. With the nation's No. 25 scoring defense (63.4 PPG) and No. 86 scoring offense (73.6 PPG), they can get it done on both ends.

Nova is coming off a loss to UConn, but that still has them splitting the regular season series 1-1. They also won their lone meeting against Providence so far and thrashed Creighton 75-41 in their last meeting. Dropping two against Marquette is the only real head-to-head concern looking at the Wildcats' regular season results.

Led by the best player in the Big East in Collin Gillespie, it's easy to like the Wildcats returning to the top spot with their fourth championship in the last five conference tournaments.
