The Cincinnati Bengals are facing major adversity when it comes to injury issues in their secondary. Just a few days after learning that starting cornerback Chidobe Awuzie will be out for the remainder of the season, the team announced that Mike Hilton will also be out on Sunday.
That leaves the Bengals without two of their three starting cornerbacks as they prepare for a Week 9 clash against the Carolina Panthers.
Mike Hilton Injury Update
Hilton was unable to log a practice this week as he deals with a finger issue. Cincinnati's primary nickel corner had previously appeared in all eight of the team's games, notching three passes defended and 36 combined tackles.
Eli Apple is on track to slot back into his starting role after missing Week 8's contest against the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury. Tre Flowers has yet to practice this week due to his hamstring ailment, but safety Dax Hill is an option to slide over to cornerback should Flowers not be able to suit up.
Fortunately, the Bengals are facing a Panthers offense that ranks just 28th in passing yards per game. That said, Carolina is coming off its first 300-yard passing game after racking up 309 passing yards in an overtime loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week.
Even with a depleted secondary, Cincinnati is still considered a 7-point home favorite according to NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
