As the Cincinnati Bengals prepare for a Week 14 clash against the San Francisco 49ers, the team received some terrific injury updates on two key players: running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Sources close to NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that both Mixon (illness) and Higgins (ankle) will play against the 49ers despite being listed as questionable throughout the week.

Joe Mixon Injury Update

Mixon was absent from practice this week as he dealt with an illness. While some thought it could be COVID-19 or even the flu, he wound up testing negative for both. That's great news for a player who's been a key role in Cincinnati's offense throughout the 2021 NFL season.

Mixon has been a great dual-threat for the Bengals all year, averaging 4.3 yards per carry and 7.4 yards per reception. He's hit 1,170 total yards from scrimmage already and his 14 touchdowns on the year are more than his past two seasons combined (12).

Tee Higgins Injury Update

On the other hand, Higgins has been dealing with an ankle injury throughout the past week. He still managed to practice (albeit, in a limited role), so it looks like his perseverance is paying off.

While Higgins had a slow start to the season, he's been getting hotter as of late. The former Clemson Tiger has averaged 126 yards on 7.5 receptions over his last two games, finding the end zone once.

Now, Higgins and the rest of the Bengals receivers go up against a 49ers defense that is missing a pair of key cornerbacks in Emmanuel Moseley and Dontae Johnson. If Higgins is truly healthy, it could be another big game for him.
