Bears News: Allen Robinson to Attend Minicamp After Signing Franchise Tag

There was some uncertainty around Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson's future over the last couple of weeks. As he looks for a contract extension following being franchise tagged in March, Robinson had missed the Bears OTAs over the past two weeks. Considering the NFL's history with players holding after being franchise tagged, you can't blame Chicago fans for being worried about whether or not their star wideout would do the same. Fortunately, that's not the case.
Bears beat writer Jason Lieser reported on Monday that Robinson will indeed be attending Chicago's mandatory minicamp from Tuesday to Thursday. Now that this information is out in the open, Bears fans can finally exhale a sigh of relief.

Allen Robinson Bears News
The next important date for the Bears and Robinson when it comes to a potential extension is July 15. That's the last day that the two sides can sign a new deal or else they'll have to go through this process again next offseason.
Robinson has been a key part of the Bears offense since joining the team via free agency in 2018. During that span, he's caught 63.9% of his targets for 3,151 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. Regardless of who his quarterback is next season, Robinson must have chemistry with them to bring a playoff run to Chicago.
Before they even have a chance to make it beyond the Wild Card round, the Bears have to qualify for the postseason first. They're currently being favored to miss the 2021 playoffs at -230 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. In other words, there's still a long road ahead of Robinson and his team.
