3 Most Likely Bears Starting Quarterbacks for 2021 NFL Season

With free agent Mitchell Trubisky not expected to return to the team, and Carson Wentz now in Indianapolis, the Chicago Bears still need a new starting quarterback. Of course, their solution may be on the roster already in Nick Foles, but free agency and the draft provide a chance to find a new QB as well.
With that in mind, here are three likely starters for the Bears in 2021.
3. Nick Foles
The least flashy, but possibly most likely choice, Foles could step in as Chicago's starter for the 2021 season. The former Super Bowl champ took over starting duties from Trubisky in Week 3 and went on to start seven games, totaling 1,664 yards, 7 TDs and 7 INTs from Weeks 4-10. Not exactly the most impressive numbers, and he lost the starting gig after a hip injury allowed Trubisky to regain his role. There could be optimism that Foles will have a stronger performance if he's the team's clear starter going into Week 1, but he seems more like a fall-back option in case the Bears don't land an upgrade this offseason.
2. Justin Fields
There is considerable noise around Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and his potential to fall in the 2021 NFL Draft. It's still possible Fields goes as high as No. 2 overall, but it seems like there's a chance he could slip into the mid-first round. With the No. 20 selection, Chicago should absolutely move up if acquiring Fields becomes a real possibility. The dynamic QB was electric with the Buckeyes, throwing for 63 TDs and 5,373 yards in his two seasons at Ohio State and adding 867 yards and 15 scores on the ground. He appears ready to step in on Day 1, and he could gives the Bears their quarterback of the future.
1. Jameis Winston
If the Bears want to compete in 2021, then going with a veteran free agent is their best bet. Jameis Winston offers them an experienced starter who'll likely be available this offseason. He's just one season removed from throwing for a league-high 5,109 yards along with 33 TDs as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' starter. Turnovers can be a problem, as evidenced by his 30 INTs in 2019, but he's still one of the most intriguing free agent QBs this offseason because of his potential if everything comes together. Offering him the chance to be a starter again should be all the motivation he needs to help lead the Bears in 2021.
