Bears Add Cornerback Depth With Latest Signing

The Chicago Bears had a 2021 NFL season to forget for a multitude of reasons. However, one positive aspect that stuck out was the fact that the Bears had one of the better passing defenses in the league, allowing only 191.6 passing yards per game (No. 2).
If the Bears want a shot at success in 2022, a reliable secondary will help them get there. That's exactly why the organization added more cornerback depth Friday with the signing of Tavon Young to a one-year, $1.365 million deal.
Tavon Young signed a one-year, $1.365 million deal with the Chicago Bears that includes $650K guaranteed with a $150K signing bonus, a $965K base salary ($500K gtd), $11,765 per game active, up to $400K playtime-playoffs incentive

The base salary of Young's deal is $965,000 and he'll earn $11,765 for every game that he's active. A total of $650,000 of the contract is guaranteed, along with a $150,000 signing bonus. There is also $400,000 worth of playoff incentives that depends on his playing time.
Young has spent the entirety of his NFL career in a Baltimore Ravens uniform. He played a total of 50 games (24 starts) over four seasons with his old team, recording 127 tackles, 16 defended passes, four interceptions and two fumbles recovered for a touchdown.
Young primarily played as a slot cornerback during his time with the Ravens, which is where the Bears could use some help. He's looked promising at times during his limited playing opportunities, leaving time to tell if he'll flourish in an expanded role.
The Bears will need all the defensive help they can get if they hope to end the 2022 NFL season with a championship. FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl Odds show the Bears at +8000 (T-No. 24) to win Super Bowl LVII.
