Baker Mayfield Trade Value Reportedly at All-Time Low

In just four short years, Baker Mayfield went on one tumultuous ride as quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. From the former No. 1 overall pick, to breaking a 26-year playoff win drought, and now losing his job to Deshaun Watson.
The 26-year-old gunslinger has one year remaining on his current contract as the Browns try to shop him via the trade market. Even with a few teams still desperate for quarterback help, Mayfield's trade value is reportedly at an all-time low.

A report from Adam Schefter claims one NFL team reached out to the Browns about the terms of a potential deal. In this conversation, the supposed team requested Cleveland sends a draft pick to compensate for taking on Mayfield's contract ($18.86 million).
Baker Mayfield Trade Value
That sort of deal is usually supposed to go the other way around: a quarterback-needy team offering valuable draft assets to solve their issue. All in all, it's a sad reality for Mayfield.
The former No. 1 pick endured his worst year as a pro in 2021. Mayfield dealt with a lingering shoulder injury, throwing just 3,010 yards and 17 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. However, this came on the heels of back-to-back 3,500-yard campaigns and a playoff win with the Browns.
Matt Ryan's recent trade to the Indianapolis Colts has to come into consideration when discussing trade value. The four-time Pro Bowl and highly regarded veteran was moved in exchange simply for a 2022 third-round pick. Atlanta's fumbling of their own Watson pursuit and Ryan's contract played a factor, but the current QB trade market is tough going.
It'll be interesting to see where Mayfield can land in 2022. He's still only 26 and has an opportunity to put his nagging shoulder injury behind him in a different situation next year.
