Justin Verlander's injury has already greatly impacted the Houston Astros' odds in the 2020 season. While there's not really a definitive timetable for Verlander's eventual return (if he can even come back this season), Houston's odds to win the AL West have already dropped significantly, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Astros have fallen from -145 as of July 16, to an even +100 as of Monday morning. The Oakland Athletics, meanwhile, have improved from +230 to win the AL West to +155 in that same time.

While Verlander's injury has undoubtedly impacted these odds, both teams getting off to a 2-1 start also likely contributed to the odds being closer than many initially projected.

This race will certainly be one to monitor as the season progresses, assuming there aren't any further complications from the pandemic.
