The Houston Astros are having an impressive start to the 2022 MLB season, leading the AL West Division with a 22-11 record. A championship-caliber team can never have too much depth, though, which is why the Astros have since added more ahead of this weekend's action.
The Astros have acquired Mauricio Dubón from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for catcher Mike Papierski. Dubón brings some extra versatility to Houston's lineup, possessing the ability both in centerfield and any infield position (aside from first base).

Dubón was enjoying a modest season with the Giants so far, recording 11 hits, two home runs and eight RBIs in 46 at-bats while slashing .239/.245/.636.
Although his statistics aren't eye-popping, his underlying numbers look promising. His home run percentage (4.1%) has increased compared to last year (2.7%). He's also lowered his strikeout percentage a considerable amount (8.2% in 2022 vs. 21.9% in 2021).
If Dubón can continue his positive trends, he could be a real contributor in Houston going forward. Jose Siri has had his struggles in centerfield, so it's possible that reliable play could lead to Dubón challenging him for the starting spot.
There's no word on whether or not Dubón will be in the Astros' lineup on Saturday when they face the Washington Nationals in the second of their three-game series. Houston is currently the -154 moneyline favorite on the road, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
