USA Today's Mark Medina reports that Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis is hopeful of returning to the court for Thursday's away game against the Dallas Mavericks. The eight-time All-Star hasn't played since Feb. 14 due to a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis.
If he does play, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel plans to limit him to no more than 15 minutes in the game. Davis's return would be a step in the right direction for a Lakers team without their other superstar in LeBron James.
James is still expected to be out for at least another two weeks with a high ankle sprain. With both players sidelined, Los Angeles has slid down to third place in the Pacific Division and fifth place in the Western Conference.
