The Los Angeles Angels treat both of their superstars in Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani like fine dinnerware, with extreme caution. Trout's already landed on the 10-day injured list with a calf strain and could miss 6-8 weeks in total, dating back to the injury in late May.

With that in mind, the Angels are intent on keeping their two-way phenom Ohtani as healthy as possible. Ohtani put together another brilliant two-way performance Friday night. However, he gave the Angels a bit of a scare after fouling a ball off of the inside of his right knee.

Shohei Ohtani Injury

According to the reports, Ohtani is doing just fine and has avoided a potentially scary injury. The foul ball happened in the third inning, but he remained in the game to pitch five innings of one-run baseball along with 2 doubles and 1 RBI in 4 at-bats. He discussed his knee feeling "pretty stiff" after the game, so we may see an extra day or two of rest.

Luckily, a day or two of rest is the extent of any time off Ohtani will need after Thursday night's scare. It's no wonder the Angels are so cautious with their superstar pitcher/hitter. Ohtani's slashing .267/.351/.610 at the dish this year with 17 home runs and 45 RBIs in 58 games. On the mound, Ohtani owns a 2.85 ERA in 9 starts while striking out 12.9 batters per nine innings.

There's certainly no player on the planet that possesses the insane skillset oh Ohtani. Right now, the Angels are 31-32 on the year and in third place in the AL West. Ohtani sits in a two-way tie with Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the American League MVP race, both with +150 odds to win the award on FanDuel Sportsbook.
