The Los Angeles Angels are trying to keep their heads above water in the AL West. The Angels currently own a 33-33 record, sitting 7.0 games back of the Oakland Athletics, and two-way threat Shohei Ohtani is doing all he can to lead this team with Mike Trout sidelined due to a calf injury.
Well, LA's injury troubles might not let up anytime soon after Anthony Rendon was forced to leave Monday's loss against the Athletics.
Anthony Rendon Injury
Rendon injured his triceps while making a diving play against Oakland, and said that he "felt something" following the effort. Something as vague as that certainly doesn't paint an optimistic view of the third baseman's latest ailment.
This isn't the first time Rendon has been injured this year. The former All-Star has missed chunks of time during the 2021 season with injuries ranging from a knee contusion to a groin strain. Now his triceps could be the next thing that causes him to miss time.
The blockbuster 2020 free-agent signing hasn't had the strongest start to the year, recording 4 home runs and 30 RBIs while slashing .241/.314/.365 in 2021. Still, losing his bat would be a blow and could prevent him from getting back to his MVP-contender form anytime soon.
