Andy Reid Has Interesting Message for Teams Considering Eric Bieniemy as Next Head Coach

One of the biggest stories of the 2021 NFL offseason centers around Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. The Chiefs OC was expected to be a shoo-in for one of the many head coaching vacancies around the league, yet Bieniemy looks poised to return to Kansas City for another season.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid offered a resounding endorsement of Bieniemy to the teams who still have a job open.
#Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Eric Bieniemy still not having a HC job: "Maybe the best thing I could tell you is I hope he goes to the NFC. Whoever gets him, I think is a very lucky organization. ... Somebody I would have loved for my son to have played for." pic.twitter.com/HLykkWLB2Z

It's obviously a big deal for Reid to throw his support behind any coaching candidate, especially given his lauded coaching tree. But for the head coach to also bring up his late son and how he'd want Bieniemy to coach him speaks volumes.
It appears Reid is doing everything possible to make sure his offensive coordinator gets the well-deserved promotion he's earned. Bieniemy's resume, which includes helming a top-six offense in both yards and points in each of the last three seasons, should speak for itself, but he's seen other jobs be snatched up by candidates who don't quite have his record of success.
It's admirable for Reid to be willing to let his offensive coordinator go in order to help Bieniemy's career, but it could also help Kansas City start to groom its next hot coaching candidate.
