The Buffalo Bills were expected to welcome back special teams ace Andre Smith in Week 7 after his six-game suspension. However, the team elected to waive him instead, parting ways with the veteran following a two-year run in Buffalo.

Immediately after his release, Smith snagged a workout with a division rival.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports Smith visited the New York Jets. New York is certainly familiar with the former Bills linebacker, and it appears his previous performances were enough to bring him in for an up-close look.

Smith was a key part of Buffalo's special teams unit over the past two seasons, logging 27 appearances from 2020-2021. He recorded a forced fumble, fumble recovery and 19 total tackles in his time as Bill.

Though it was originally reported that Smith would sign with the Jets, it appears that move isn't currently in the cards. That doesn't rule out the possibility of him joining New York down the line, though, especially if injuries pop up.
