Thursday's NBA Trade Deadline passed without an Andre Drummond trade, and shortly after it was reported that he and the Cleveland Cavaliers are working on a buyout. Once completed, it'll give the All-Star big man the opportunity to join a contender and compete for a ring.

With that in mind, here are three likely destinations for Drummond once he hits the buyout market.

Andre Drummond Buyout Rumors

3. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are the surprising team said to be among the frontrunners to land Drummond. New York already has promising young big Mitchell Robinson in place, and All-Star Julius Randle joins him in the frontcourt, but there's no denying a Robinson-Drummond tandem would wreak havoc in the paint. Drummond is putting up a monstrous 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while adding 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocks as well. His interest in the Knicks stems from the team's cap space and ability to give him a multi-year deal, with some estimates in the three-year, $45 million range. It's certainly another option for the center if he doesn't want to take the minimum and ring chase.

2. Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have been in desperate need of a rim protector after trading away Jarrett Allen, and Drummond could immediately fill that hole. Plugging Drummond into the starting lineup would give the Nets a dominant force down low who wouldn't be asked to do too much, given the team's Big 3, and could focus on his strengths. Likely to face some imposing bigs in the Eastern Conference playoffs like Joel Embiid and Bam Adebayo, Brooklyn needs to address its center spot, so the team should be aggressive in pursuing Drummond as they hope to strengthen this Finals-worth roster.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

With another prized player hitting the buyout market, it's no surprise the Los Angeles Lakers are in the mix. Marc Gasol just isn't the player he used to be, and the Lakers would get burned in the playoffs if they depend on him for heavy minutes. Drummond would solve that problem in an instant, giving LA an All-Star big who makes his presence felt on both ends of the court. Injuries to Anthony Davis and LeBron James currently have this squad decimated, but a Drummond addition could bring a spark to as they weather the storm. His rebounding and defensive presence are two great assets for postseason play, and with a litany of top bigs in the Western Conference, he'd fix LA's biggest weakness heading into a possible Finals run.
