Alvin Kamara Being Overlooked in NFL MVP Conversation
By Max Staley

Alvin Kamara has essentially singlehandedly kept the New Orleans Saints' offense afloat this season. With big-name players like Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and now potentially Drew Brees missing time, there has only been one constant on this team: Alvin Kamara is unstoppable.
And yet, the oddsmakers apparently haven't noticed. In fact, Kamara's odds to win the 2020 NFL MVP award are so low, they can only be described as disrespectful.
Alvin Kamara is now up to 1,134 total yards and 11 TD, putting him on pace for 2,000+ yards and 19 TD.

He’s scored 45.3 more fantasy points than any other RB this season and is the only RB, WR or TE to finish as a top 10 player at his position in every week this season.
Alvin Kamara MVP Odds
Kamara is currently available at +5000 to win the MVP award, per FanDuel Sportsbook. That has him tied for the eighth-best odds to take home the hardware, which is ridiculously low. And his ranking only gets more absurd the further you look into it.
For example, the gap between Kamara and the favorite, Patrick Mahomes (+175), is pretty much just as large as the gap between Kamara and Jared Goff (+10000).
It's hard to argue that anyone has been more valuable to their team than Kamara. The Saints simply wouldn't be where they are without their superstar back. His league-leading 1,134 yards from scrimmage account for a whopping 34% of New Orleans' total yardage this season.
Alvin Kamara isn't JUST leading all RBs in receiving yards... his 648 is more than double the next-closest player (Mike Davis, 290)

Oh, and he's also:
- No. 15 in receiving yardage among all receivers
- No. 1 in yards from scrimmage (by 100 yards)
- No. 2 in touchdowns#Saints pic.twitter.com/4mOBF2RvK9
That puts him on pace to record over 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns. He's essentially having the season Christian McCaffrey did last year while starring on the No. 2 seed in the NFC. That's absolutely MVP-caliber stuff.
Realistically, the award almost always goes to quarterbacks, and the odds suggest that trend will continue this year. But at the very least, Kamara deserves to be a lot higher up in the conversation.
