AL Cy Young Odds Favor Justin Verlander over Kevin Gausman in Crowded Field on FanDuel Sportsbook

The American League is full of pitchers capable of carrying their team to a victory with a quality start on the mound. It has led to a ton of shake ups in the AL CY Young odds over a month into the 2022 season. Houston Astros' Justin Verlander has become the latest favorite to take home the award.

Verlander leads all candidates with odds set at +500, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The 39-year-old has bounced back from 2021 Tommy John surgery in a big way by posting a 5-1 record to go along with a 1.38 ERA. He has also struck out 41 batters across 45.2 innings pitched (7 starts).

Kevin Gausman checks in close behind with odds set at +600. The Toronto Blue Jays ace has been able to replicate his success from last season with a 2.52 ERA through eight starts. He currently leads the AL with 50.0 innings pitched and owns a ridiculous 19:1 strikeout to walk rate.

It's worth noting that New York Yankees' Gerrit Cole was the favorite entering the season and has since fallen to third in the odds (+750). Meanwhile, 2021 AL CY Young winner Robbie Ray has struggled to find his groove in 2022, resulting in a drop all the way down to T-18 (+7000).
