There's no shortage of young talent in the 2022 NBA Draft, and that includes Duke Blue Devils prospect AJ Griffin. Griffin figures to be taken during the first round on draft night, but the real question is whether he lands in the top 10 or not.
Here's everything you need to know about Griffin ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft.
AJ Griffin Mock Draft 2022
Yahoo! Sports predictions are from Raphielle Johnson's latest mock draft. CBS Sports' predictions are from Kyle Boone's latest mock draft. Bleacher Report's projections are from Jonathan Wasserman's latest mock draft.
Yahoo! Sports: Cleveland Cavaliers (No. 14)
CBS Sports: New Orleans Pelicans (No. 8)
Bleacher Report: Oklahoma City Thunder (No. 12)
AJ Griffin NBA Draft Stock & Projection
- New Orleans Pelicans (No. 8) - 1
- Oklahoma City Thunder (No. 12)- 1
- Cleveland Cavaliers (No. 14) - 1
Only one of the three highlighted mock drafts think AJ Griffin will crack the top-10 at the 2022 NBA Draft. Aside from the New Orleans Pelicans at No. 8, two of the mocks believe Griffin will land either at No. 12 (OKC Thunder) or No. 14 (Cleveland Cavaliers). Griffin took a back seat in Duke's offense behind the force that is Paolo Banchero, but he displayed a knack for knocking down open threes. He'd be a perfect fit on a Pelicans team in need of shot-makers as opposed to players that can create open looks.
AJ Griffin NBA Draft Odds
AJ Griffin's NBA Draft odds on FanDuel Sportsbook agree that he's a fringe top-10 prospect, and that he'll probably go in the first half of Round 1 regardless. He's only got +210 odds to be a top-10 pick, but with a draft position over/under of 11.5 (-158 on the over, +118 on the under), he's not far outside of those top 10 prospects.
If you think Griffin exceeds expectations on draft night, you can also get him at +1900 to be the No. 7 overall pick, +3400 to be the No. 6 overall pick or +6500 to be the No. 5 pick.
AJ Griffin Stats
2021-22 Duke Blue Devils (Freshman)
- 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.6 blocks, 0.6 turnovers, 1.8 3-pointers, 24.0 minutes per game. 49.3% field goal, 44.7% 3-point shooting.
Griffin was not the main piece to Duke's offense. That ran through Banchero. Rather, he was arguably the best knock-down shooter in college basketball and made nearly 50% of his shoots from outside. His perimeter shooting translates better, from an immediacy standpoint, than some of the other long-term projects in this draft.
