Adrian Peterson has seemed ageless throughout his career. The legendary running back is still getting starting opportunities at age 35. Considering how many rushers fall out of the NFL in under five seasons, AP's 14-year tenure is incredible to behold.
Now in Week 11, the running back known as "All Day" will tally one more start on to his illustrious career against the Carolina Panthers. Rookie D'Andre Swift had won the job from Peterson a couple weeks ago, but he's now unavailable due to a concussion.
Adrian Peterson Fantasy Outlook
Kerryon Johnson is expected to share the rushing duties to some extent, but it's huge that head coach Matt Patricia has named Peterson the starter. That means the veteran is likelier to get the opportunity on early downs, and near the goal line.
AP's production has declined as the season has gone on, but he is coming off a slight resurgence with 5.25 yards per carry in limited Week 10 action. If he can build off that in much larger snap share against a Panthers defense that is ranked No. 26 in rushing yards allowed, he immediately becomes a viable fantasy option.
Johnson has not been particularly impressive in the rushing or passing attack, but he has some value in PPR formats as he's likely to handle some decent volume on passing downs.
However, if you're choosing between the two, it's always smart to side with the starter.
