Adrian Morejon was forced to leave Sunday’s start due to left elbow/forearm tightness, and the San Diego Padres officially placed him on the IL on Monday.

Adrian Morejon Injury
The severity of the injury is still unknown as Morejon undergoes further tests, but any sort of arm injury is always scary. There’s a chance that he could miss the remainder of the season, and even the best-case scenario means he’ll be sidelined for a while.
Morejon was considered the Padres’ No. 5 overall prospect heading into the 2020 season, and he racked up an impressive 11.64 strikeouts per nine innings over his first 19 1/3 innings at the MLB level. He struggled with allowing home runs, but his 3.02 xFIP suggests that he has the potential to be a solid major league starter.
The Padres are already dealing with Mike Clevinger missing the season after Tommy John surgery, so Morejon missing an extended period would hurt. Last year’s breakout star Dinelson Lamet is also currently on the 10-day IL, and he will make at least one more start at the Padres’ alternate site before joining the rotation.
Despite their pitching woes, the Padres still own the third-best odds to win the World Series at +900 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
