One of the biggest storylines in the 2021 NFL offseason pertains to Carson Wentz and a possible trade away from the Philadelphia Eagles. Wentz was benched in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts to end the 2020 campaign, and there's rumblings that he wants out of Philadelphia.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter weighed in on the situation, making a bold prediction on a possible Wentz trade.

Schefter sees that there's a clear disconnect between the Eagles and their supposed franchise QB, and his guess is that a trade will happen because there's too much damage to repair, even if they're not actively shopping him at the moment.

And just because he would like to be moved or hasn’t commented doesn’t mean he will be. If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded. That would be my guess. At some point this offseason. But, again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.

With a cap hit of almost $34.7 million and a dead cap figure of almost $60 million, trading Wentz is no easy task for the Eagles. That's why many figure that the team's hiring of Nick Sirianni as their new head coach, who was the offensive coordinator under Frank Reich in Indianapolis, is a possible way to help the quarterback get back to the level of play he's capable of.

It's possible that Wentz's relationship with the team is too far gone at this point, though, potentially putting another big-name QB on the market in what's already been a wild offseason.
