The environment of college basketball is unlike any other. It combines the rowdy excitement that we see on Saturdays for football games, then packs all of these fans close to the court to create what we can only describe as madness. These are the seven most loyal fanbases in college basketball, according to 2019 season attendance.

1. Nebraska Cornhuskers

Despite having a mediocre, at best, team last season, Nebraska fans didn't let that get in the way of packing the arena. Their average attendance was over 15,500 per game, which is actually above the amount of seats of Pinnacle Bank Arena. They were the only school in the country to average more than the capacity last season. That's a lot of Cornhuskers.

2. Michigan State Spartans

This Big Ten team makes a little more sense. Under Tom Izzo, Michigan State continue to be contenders every season. And if not for a number of devastating injuries last season, they could have found themselves in another championship game. Spartans fans continue to make East Lansing a tough place to play, averaging a sell-out crowd of just under 15,000.

3. St. John's Red Storm

Again, St. John's was another mediocre team last season, but they are also a school with a ton of basketball history. The Red Storm have the ninth-most victories in NCAA history, with 1,854 to date. They also averaged an insane amount of fans last season. St. John's averaged just under 10,000 per game this season, but they play at two venues. The first being a 5,600-person Carnesecca Arena, the second being Madison Square Garden, which holds just under 20,000 fans for basketball games. St. John's averaged more than 18,000.

4. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Gonzaga was among the top teams in the country from start to finish last season. The Dogs have been fantastic under coach Mark Few, which has led to sold out games consistently. However, the McCarthey Athletic Center is an intimate one, with a capacity of just 6,000.

5. Duke Blue Devils

We all know about the Cameron Crazies. They stand in the 1,200-person student section, camp out in tents three months before the games, and hand out "dirt sheets" containing embarrassing details about opposing players to chant. Love them or hate them, they're dedicated. Of course, Duke continues to sell out every game, but the prices certainly were more stiff with Zion Williamson in town.

6. VCU Rams

Known for their defense and hard-nosed style of basketball, the VCU Rams continue to sport a solid fanbase. With a 25-8 overall record last season, they averaged a sell-out of around 8,000 fans.

7. Kansas Jayhawks

No matter the season, Kansas packs the stands with about 17,000 fans each night. They averaged the seventh-most fans in the country last season, but had a higher percentage capacity than the six school ahead of them. Allen Fieldhouse will continue to be a tough place to play for opponents.
