Even though outfield is arguably the deepest position in fantasy baseball, there is a noticeable dropoff once you enter the later rounds of drafts. However, it's still possible to find a few outfielders with the potential to put up monster fantasy seasons at the back end of a draft.
With that said, here are three outfielders who could be in for breakout seasons in 2019.
3. Max Kepler, Minnesota Twins (ADP: 235)
Max Kepler has been inconsistent over the past three seasons, but 2019 might finally be the year he puts it all together. The 26-year-old has increased his homerun total in each of the last three seasons, and he improved his hard-contact rate from 32.9 percent in 2017 to 37.1 percent in 2018. If Kepler maintains this progression, he could see a significant bump in production this season, making him a great sleeper.
2. Randal Grichuk, Toronto Blue Jays (ADP: 253)
Randal Grichuk put together an impressive stretch toward the end of the 2018 season, and he could be on the verge of a breakout year in 2019. The 27-year-old outfielder smacked 11 homers and 27 RBI in his final 50 games last season and he's also hit well early on in Spring Training, slashing .313/.450/.750. If Grichuk builds upon these performances, he could be a steal with a pick outside the top 250.
1. Odubel Herrera, Philadelphia Phillies (ADP: 218)
Odubel Herrera had an up-and-down 2018 season, but he made tremendous strides in the power department, crushing a career-high 22 home runs. Herrera batted .255 last season, which was the first time he's hit below .280 in his MLB career. If Herrera maintains his power and returns to a more palatable batting average, he could be in for a huge season in 2019. Herrera could also benefit from the Philadelphia Phillies adding established sluggers, Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto, to the middle of the Phillies' batting order.
