Bryce Harper, the former MVP outfielder, signed a massive 13-year, $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, and needless to say, the internet had quite the reaction.

Angry fans of other teams in the running didn't hold back, posting comments on not only Harper's Twitter and Instagram but the Instagram of his wife, Kayla Varner.

Neither Bryce or Kayla have posted since the contract was signed but still, internet trolls took to their old Instagram posts to complain about Harper's decision. One such post was this one from Valentines Day:

There's a lot there if you look at the comments, but to give an idea of the type of things being said, one commenter posted this,

“What can one person do with 330 million dollars!? He’s from LV take the 20 mill less and sign with dodgers or giants instead of playing in Philly I really is a BAD franchise and a nasty boring city. So glad my Yankees never got him he will never win period.”

The commenter wasn't done, going on to call Harper "full of greed." “I would have went to LA or the Giants and taken the 20 million dollars less! He’s never going to win ever period. Like what do you even do with 330 million?”

Well, Kayla wasn't going to take that lying down, so she decided to clap back at the troll, commenting in response,

“Must be hard being this ignorant. Stop trolling on Instagram and maybe you could put your time into actually being productive enough to make money to support your family too.”

It's not exactly a "drop the mic" type of response, but she's also not wrong. It easy to get mad at someone for signing with a team other than your own, but would you really take $20 million less?

Finally, the Phillies are a young, up and coming team that now have a cornerstone to build around, saying they will "never win" is a bit presumptuous, but that's another conversation entirely. Harper got the money he deserves and his wife lit up some trolls on Instagram in the process.

All in all a successful evening for the Harper family.
