Baseball fans and media alike have been waiting for a possible answer as to where Bryce Harper or Manny Machado will end up signing. The two 26-year-old superstars – the most-coveted free agents in a long while – have still yet to decide where they are playing baseball next year.
As Spring Training approaches, the most confusing part is why or, more so, how no one has any idea where those two are going to land. The impact of a player like Machado, Harper or another remaining free agent could be monumental on the field and in their odds to win the World Series.
Both of these players could potentially change the entire trajectory of a team as they're both franchise cornerstones. With MLB win totals and World Series odds now available on many sportsbooks, including FanDuel Sportsbook, predicting where one of them signs could potentially lead to come great value.
Whichever team lands one, or even potentially both, of these two players, their odds to win the World Series will surely be affected. While the Boston Red Sox (+550) and Houston Astros (+600) are the early favorites to win, if the New York Yankees (+600) happen to get Machado or Harper, they'll likely become to the odds-on favorite to win the World Series.
The Philadelphia Phillies (+1300) seem to be in the running for the services of both All-Stars, and we can only imagine how their odds would change with one of both of them in the middle of any already-improved lineup.
As with any bet, there is risk and reward associated with it, but the opportunity for massive value is surely there. If you happen to guess right before Harper or Machado sign, you'll be able to snag whichever team you choose at a much better price.
