5 NFL Teams That Should Sign Free Agent Safety Tyrann Mathieu

There's still one more game left to play in the 2018 campaign but 30 other teams will be sitting and watching on their couches this Sunday. As they look to improve and get to this point next season, teams will hunt for some of the incredible talent hitting the free agency market, including safety Tyrann Mathieu.

With the playmaker expected to garner some big interest this offseason, here are the top five landing spots for the Honey Badger.

Chasing a ring may not be on the blueprint for the Giants, but if they can fix their quarterback issues we'd be looking at a well-rounded football team. Adding Mathieu to play alongside Landon Collins would give offenses nightmares when trying to air it out as both players are two of the best at their position.

4. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens were arguably the best defense in football last year and can take another huge step if they bring in Mathieu. The need might not be there just yet, but Baltimore still has to decide whether it'll be bringing back veteran safety Eric Weddle. If they decide to let him walk in free agency, the Ravens can't afford to take a step backward in their secondary. Mathieu would bring the same level of high play with more years of his prime left to offer.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City was a few plays away from punching its Super Bowl ticket, but that doesn't mean this team can't improve in 2019. This has nothing to do with the offense, as their defensive unit ranked 24th in points allowed and 31st in passing yardage allowed. Mathieu would help this team tremendously, especially with Eric Berry's status up in the air.

2. New England Patriots

We have seen this team be active in free agency on the defense side of the ball when they signed Stephon Gilmore to a massive deal a few years ago. The Patriots may need a new safety with Devin McCourty potentially retiring following the Super Bowl, and Mathieu did state his desire to win a ring. There's no team in the league that gives the Honey Badger a better chance of adding some hardware.

1. Houston Texans

Mathieu may be hitting free agency, but that doesn't mean he has to pack his bags just yet. After signing a one-year "prove it" deal with Houston, Mathieu had a career-year and helped turn this Texans defense into one of the best in the league. There are numerous important defenders that Houston is going to try to re-sign this offseason, but they do have the best chance at landing him given his fit in this system during 2018.
