The NFL playoffs are all about getting hot at the right time. Sure, you'd like a bye week and home-field advantage, if you can have it, but as long as you're rolling heading into the postseason, nothing else matters.

The Indianapolis Colts are a prime example of this as they're arguably the hottest team left in the playoffs. Some may think their victory over the Houston Texans was a stroke of luck, but their numbers over the second half of the season show that they're no fluke.

Indianapolis has some of the best stats in the league since somehow losing to the New York Jets in Week 6.

Talk about a wakeup call.

When the Colts' offense and defense are both producing, there's nothing stopping a team like this from making a Super Bowl run. It would be one thing if the Colts' offense was carrying the load, but being ranked No. 1 in the league since Week 7 in points allowed shows that this team can do it on both sides of the ball.

A huge part of those numbers have to do with the stellar play of the Indianapolis offensive line. Not only are they keeping Andrew Luck upright, and allowing him to have time to make plays with the passing game, but they've opened up lanes a bus can ride through for running back Marlon Mack.

If you were to guess who leads the NFL in rushing first downs, and is second in carries, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns since Week 7, most would not say Mack.

Granted, some of these stats need to be taken with a grain of salt as the Colts had an easy strength of schedule over the second half of the season. They played just three games against playoff teams during their 10-1 run, including the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans twice.

This streak will truly be put to the test when they take on the top-seeded team in the AFC in the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. And if the Colts come out on top, they'll again prove that they're potentially the best team in football right now.
