With sports betting starting to get legalized across a number of states and Washington DC, professional leagues and teams all over are figuring out different ways to incorporate it into their businesses and game coverage.

Some are putting sportsbooks in the arena, some are doing special lounges, others are creating in-stadium mobile apps.

NFC Sports Washington, starting tonight, will begin an eight-game experiment of a special in-game betting product that will aim to transform the way people watch and bet on sports, specifically form a live-betting perspective. This will morph the screen into a new format loaded with stats and in-game prop bets while people watch.

This could be one of the many major first steps in showing how fully legalized sports betting could completely transform the sports watching and fan experience. Stuff like this will only become more and more prevalent and advanced as states continue to legalize sports betting.

This test will serve as a big indicator of how products of this nature will ultimately work. For now, it will be a lot of trial by fire with initiatives like this one, but when the teams and leagues find what makes them the most money and translates into the highest ratings, you can bet they will double down on it.
