Death, taxes and the New England Patriots advancing to the AFC Championship. Some things in life are just a given.

When the Patriots clinched the No. 2 seed in the AFC, their ninth consecutive season with a bye in the NFL playoffs, it put New England in a position to thrive in the postseason under head coach Bill Belichick. And no surprise here, the Patriots have been incredible coming off a bye.

Since 2001, Tom Brady and the Patriots have gone 11-1 in the Divisional Round coming off a bye week. Shockingly, their only loss came way back in 2010 to Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets.

While the Patriots are notorious for playing close games in the playoffs, their average margin of victory in the Divisional Round after a bye week is an impressive 13.9 points per game. And that number jumps to a staggering 17 points per game since 2011.

This certainly isn't the strongest Patriots team we've seen in the last decade, but they still figure to be a great bet in the Divisional Round, regardless of who they play.
