Barring a last-second change, the AFC's leading rusher will not be on the Pro Bowl roster.
Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon finished the year with 1,168 rushing yards, most in the AFC, but was only named as an alternate for the Pro Bowl. Yet somehow, James Conner, Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay will all be heading to Orlando instead of him. Even more intriguing, is the fact that Mixon had all of this production while missing two games.
Plenty of good players get snubbed by Pro Bowl voting every year, and Bengals RB Joe Mixon is no exception this season. https://t.co/JnG18zTkWt— Cincy Jungle (@CincyJungle) December 20, 2018
Mixon is no one-trick pony either, he also added 43 catches for 296 receiving yards, and truly set the tempo for the Bengals offense down the stretch. Even without Andy Dalton and A.J. Green, Mixon was able to post great numbers while the team was trying to figure out how to make it work without their star players.
Going into next season, the Bengals will have a new head coach after finally firing Marvin Lewis. That shouldn't do much to hurt Mixon's fantasy value, but we'll have to wait and see who the new coach is that will be on the sidelines in Cincy.
