Saquon Barkley has been almost unstoppable in his first year in the league. However, thanks to a recent surge by his competition, Barkley may not be the consensus pick for Offensive Rookie of the Year anymore.

According to RotoGrinders' Kevin Cole, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is gaining considerable momentum for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors thanks to an impressive second-half surge.

Barkley has had a fantastic season and statistically speaking, he should be a no-brainer pick for rookie of the year. However, the impact that Mayfield has had on the Browns is giving him a reportedly-considerable edge over his fellow rookie.

Mayfield's lights-out play over the past seven weeks has led the Browns to a 5-2 record through the second half of the season, putting a franchise that was 1-31 over the past two years on the precipice of its first winning season since 2007.

There's still one more game for both players to cement their case for Offensive Rookie of the Year though. And if Mayfield can knock the Baltimore Ravens out of the playoff picture with a win in Baltimore this upcoming weekend, there's an even greater chance the rookie signal-caller can steal the award.
