3 Melvin Gordon Injury Replacements to Stream Off Waivers

Because the Chargers took a chance and allowed their star running back Melvin Gordon to play on Sunday against the Cardinals, he re-aggravated a knee injury and will now miss multiple games with a sprained MCL. Gordon's fantasy owners are likely livid at this point, having to be without their top running back as they head into the playoffs, which start in Week 14 in most leagues.

But there's no time to cry over spilled milk. You need to find a viable replacement for such a big producer on your team, and you need to do it via the waiver wire this week. Here are three options that can potentially help stop the bleeding and get you a win or two while Gordon is on the shelf.

Let's get the list started with someone who will benefit directly from Gordon's absence. Justin Jackson, a rookie out of Northwestern, ended up carrying the ball seven times for 57 yards after Gordon left the game, and the Chargers will likely lean on him as their more traditional "running" back. Austin Ekeler, who is already owned in most leagues, will likely play the same role he has been, with an added boost as the Chargers' starter now.

2. Kapri Bibbs, RB, Washington Redskins

The good news for Kapri Bibbs' owners is that when the Redskins are trailing, he gets the ball. And they should be trailing in the majority of their games over the next few weeks, considering they'll be rolling with Colt McCoy at quarterback for the rest of the season. Because of that outlook, Bibbs could see a lot of work in catch-up mode, making him incredibly valuable in PPR leagues as long as Chris Thompson remains out.

1. LeGarrette Blount, RB, Detroit Lions

LeGarrette Blount's fantasy production is always erratic due his main value coming in goal-line scenarios. But if the Lions decide to be more cautious than not with rookie Kerryon Johnson, Blount could find himself in an advantageous spot in the next couple of weeks. Not to mention, the Lions have a few matchups left on their schedule that would really benefit the running game -- that's music to the ears of Blount's future fantasy owners.
