5 College Football Teams on Upset Alert in Week 12

As if we still needed to remind you of The Duel's continuous success in predicting college football teams on upset alert, three of the four favorites highlighted in our Week 11 list fell right where we thought they would.

Here are five college football teams that need to be on high alert for a potential upset in Week 12.

5. Colgate Raiders (+11) @ Army Knights

Colgate is likely the best college football team you know absolutely nothing about this season. The 9-0 Raiders have been so great this year, in fact, many are making an argument that Colgate is statistically more dominant than No. 1 Alabama. Watch out for this Raiders team to head down to West Point and steal an upset win over Army.

4. Rice Owls (+42) @ No. 7 LSU Tigers

Rice may be 1-10 and one of the worst teams in college football after being forced to start one the worst statistical quarterbacks of all time, but bear with me here. LSU's offense has put up more than 44 points (total) in one game this season, and the defense still allowed 16 points to their opponent that game. The Tigers will likely have to pitch a shutout to cover the 42-point spread.

3. Arkansas Razorbacks (+21) @ No. 21 Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State proved its defense is legit on the road against No. 1 Alabama last weekend. The Bulldogs held the Crimson Tide's explosive offense to just 24 total points, but MSU's offense failed to put a single point on the board. No matchup between Mississippi State and Arkansas has been decided by more than 21 points in either team's favor since 2012, and eight of the previous 10 meetings have been decided 21 points or less.

2. No. 12 Syracuse Orange (+10.5) vs. No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Saturday's Top-15 matchup is Notre Dame's toughest remaining obstacle on the path to achieving its College Football Playoff dream. The Irish boast the No. 15 scoring defense in the country, allowing just 18.7 points per game. But on the other side of the ball, Syracuse has the No. 7 scoring offense at 44.4 PPG. Something's got to give here, but even if they balance out toward the middle of each of these stats, Syracuse still gets an enormous 10.5-point cushion.

1. The Citadel Bulldogs (+51) @ No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Betting against Alabama has practically been a fool's errand this season, but Week 12 might just be the one that comes through. There's no question that the Tide will handle the Citadel, but 51 points is just too high not to question it. Especially considering we might see Crimson Tide QB Tua Tagovailoa for a limited amount of time in this one after re-aggravating a knee injury in Week 11. If Tua doesn't play into the second half, there's almost no way Alabama covers a 51-point spread.
