The Dez Bryant comeback story is over before it really got a chance to start.

It is feared that the former Pro-Bowl wide receiver tore his Achilles during his first practice with the New Orleans Saints today, just two days before their Week 10 matchup at the Cincinnati Bengals.

Now, it appears that Tre'Quan Smith will be right back on the horse as the Saints' No. 2 receiver. Look for him to have a nice day against a Bengals defense that has been torched through the air for an NFL-high 319.4 passing yards per game.

Beyond this week, the Saints could turn to veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who impressed during his recent tryout with the team.

This might be the end of the line for Dez. After all, he just turned 30 this week, and recovering from an Achilles injury typically has a 12-month timetable. There were already questions by many teams about his character, but when you add in this latest news, it'll be hard to imagine there will be many suitors lined up for his services a year from now coming off an injury like this.
