Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs is a key cog to Minnesota's offense, and even more important to you if he's on your fantasy team. While the Maryland product is typically a must-start, Diggs' status is in doubt for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin.

Another bad sign for Diggs is that the Vikings promoted Chad Beebe from their practice squad -- this typically happens when there is a need at wide receiver, just as this appears to be the case.

Even if Diggs were to suit up, there's strong evidence that you might not want to start him anyway. In the five career games that he's played in after appearing on the team's injury report, Diggs is clearly worse, averaging fewer receptions, receiving yards, and fantasy points per game -- all by a significant margin.

The wideout certainly means something to the outcome of Sunday's game as the spread has dropped a whole point -- from 6.5 to 5.5 -- since Diggs' status was in doubt.

Diggs played through the injury last Sunday night against the New Orleans Saints, but with the Vikings having an upcoming Week 10 bye, he can have a full two weeks to heal if he sits out this week. Diggs' absence would mean an uptick for tight end Kyle Rudolph and likely pushes usual waiver fodder Laquon Treadwell into the FLEX conversation. Adam Thielen remains a must-start WR1, whether Diggs is on the field or not.
